Ok, after reading the title of this post you are probably laughing… but it’s okay, we understand.
London for free? Are you kidding me? The answer is: no baby, we are serious! There are a lot of things that you can do in the British capital for free! We all know that cheap is good, but FREE is much better.
And we are not talking about begging for money on the street corner to eat a hot dog but rather to enjoy walks, Museums, Art Galleries, Concerts, City Farms, Theatres, Events, Libraries and many other things that this amazing city can offer.
If you like contemporary art you can enjoy the Tate Modern exhibitions or if you prefer British Art one of the most famous places to view it is in the Tate Britain. Don’t forget all the other famous and beautiful Art Galleries such as the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. They are not just free but they also stay open until evening and often have special evening events.
If you want to see something really typical and really English don’t forget the military tradition of the changing of the Queen’s Guard. It takes place in the Forecourt inside the gates of Buckingham Palace every day at 11:30am!
Do you want to do some shopping but don’t want to come back home with an empty wallet? Well, London is full of street markets for any taste and all kinds of things. Some examples? Portobello Market, Camden Market, Columbia Flower Market, Old Spitalfields Market, Borough Market…
Looking for something a little different? The Old Bailey is probably the most famous criminal court in the world. You can actually watch the proceedings from the public galleries Monday to Friday from 9:55 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. and from 1:55 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.
It’s impossible to write down all the things you can do in London for free so if you want to move to London or if you already live there and are looking for something on the cheap, here’s what you need: a map of all the things you can do for free, divided up by categories.
You just need to select the neighbourhood you are interested in or the one closest to you, see what you like and go!
And if you are about to move to London our community on Goguin is waiting for you to make your move easier!
